We thought it would be an inspired idea to take the last flagships smartphone launched in 2013, the LG G2 and one of the first ones to be launched in 2014, the HTC One M8, and put them into balance, because they are both amazing gadgets that need to be showcased at their best possibilities.
Although you might tend to say that the HTC has clearly more advantages because of the improvements in hardware, you will be surprised of how well the LG G2 is prepared.
Design
When it comes to the appearance, the battle between plastic and metal is surely won the one which most appeals to the eye, the brushed aluminum case of the HTC One. It is a certain fact that people will turn around to look at the HTC when displayed, rather than at the boring old-fashioned look of the LG G2.
Except for the amazing looks, this casing gives the gadget extra points for resistance and for cleanliness, helping it keep away all those nasty satins and dirt that the plastic casing of the G2 can gather. Are you HTC one fan? Learn how to unlock your phone here.
The buttons are placed somewhat differently on the LG, but easily to be learned in time. However, the intuitive placement of the ones on the HTC One will make it more attractive to buyers. Other than that, the rest of the ports are placed in the same way on the two gadgets.
Display
If there’s one thing that is amazing about these two phones is their amazing high quality displays. The HTC M8 features a 5” 1080p Super LCD-3 protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and the LG G2 has a 5.2” 1080p True HD IPS Plus protected by Gorilla Glass 2.
Although there is a smart difference of pixel density between the two, it is not noticeable, both of them having amazing HD displays.
The only visible difference is in the warmth of the colors, the HTC One having a less bluish tint than the LG. Looking at both phones outdoors is really pleasant, as they are prepared to face the brightness of the sun.
Processor
The advantage of having a newer, more advanced hardware processing unit is just slightly noticeable in the case of the HTC One, which displays a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with 2GB of RAM, compared to the Snapdragon 800 of the LG G2.
Regarding the internal memory, the G2 has 32GB built in, while the HTC One has only 16GB but also a micro SD card slot for enhancements, which can be considered better by many people.
Interface
Although they are both Android smartphones, their user interfaces are customized according to each brand, so it will be a matter of taste to choose between the HTC Sense 6.0 UI and the ex LG Optimus UI.
For the modern eye, however, the HTC Sense will clearly be more attractive due to its cartoonish playful design, as opposed to the classic, maybe even boring arrangement of the LG UI. You can unlock your LG G2 here!
Camera
Regarding the cameras, both gadgets take amazing photos, the HTC One having a 4-megapixel 1/3” sensor, an f2.0 aperture lens, dual-LED flash, and BSI and the LG having a 13-megapixel 1/3.06” sensor, f2.4 aperture lens, a single LED flash, and optical image stabilization.
Regarding the camera apps, both phones have plenty of settings and shootings modes, but the G2 stands out with more playful selections, effects and image editing possibilities that make the experience more fun on the overall.
We hope that you got a better idea about how these two gadgets behave after this comparison and that your choices will become easier.
