Moto G review - The top budget smartphone on the market
In case the new Samsung and HTC flagships stole all your attention and you forgot about Motorola, we are here to let you know that they are still in business and coming back with a very nice budget handset for the ones of you who prefer to stick with the basics: the Moto G.
What stands out in the first place about the Moto G is of course, the price: £135 for an 8GB storage version and £159 for a 16GB larger version, prices which of course decrease if you buy the phone from a specific carrier.
Although the price tag is comparable with the ones of Samsung Galaxy Fame (unlock it here), Nokia Lumia 520 (unlock code here) or LG Optimus L3 2 (get a code here), the specifications of the Moto G are much better, you will certainly notice.
With 143 grams of weight and 11.6 mm of thickness, the Moto G is quite easy to maneuver and also has a water repellent casing which you can change it with one of a different color, things that adds extra advantages to the phone’s general use.
The display is a 4.5-inch, 1280 x 720 one, with 329ppi pixel density, which is actually quite amazing, being over the iPhone 5S. Bold feature for such a cheap phone, isn’t it?
On top of that, it is equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM, putting it on top of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and the Nokia Lumia 820.
The camera has only 5MP, which gives the Moto G its first minus if compared to the 8MP cameras of the S4 Mini and Lumia 820.
The battery is a 2070mAh non-removable one, offering a whole day of battery life while the operating system is the Android KitKat.
The overall opinion is that Moto G is currently the best budget smartphone on the market, although it has no expandable memory and quite low internal storage.
The display and overall performance clearly outweigh the ones of its competitors and people have already noticed that, boosting the sales of Motorola in the past few weeks in the UK. The main buyers are young people aged between 16 and 24.
