Camera Software
Let’s be honest - every time Samsung releases a new high end smartphone, something is changed with the camera software. Despite the S6 Edge and Note Edge releasing fairly closely together, the difference in camera software is still noticeable. The S6 Edge has streamlined the experience a little and added a few new features on top.
One new mode added to the S6 Edge camera software is Virtual Shot. With Virtual Shot you can move the phone around whilst keeping a locked focus object centered. This allows you to create different angles of the same shot giving you some interesting 3D-like results.
You can also download new shooting modes on the S6 Edge, although for the time being only Familiar Sound Shot and Sports Shot are available.
Still Images
Thanks to the larger aperture lens, the S6 Edge manages to capture images faster than the Note Edge, but this is not the only difference. Whilst not huge, there is a certain increase of noise from the Note Edge’s still image results. There is no doubt that the S6 Edge provides better images than the Note Edge does.
Video
Here are a few pitfalls of the recording on the Galaxy Note Edge - the lens fails to capture a large enough shot so you are limited with what actually makes it onto the camera, and it can sometimes be hard to create a steady shot because the image stabilization is not the greatest. The S6 Edge has these issues mostly fixed - the smartphone has a larger lens to create wider videos and the OIS on the S6 makes it easier for you to create steady, shake-less videos.
Summary
There’s no doubt that The S6 Edge camera has been improved upon. This time round Samsung hasn’t just added gimmicky features. Every change to the S6 Edge’s camera has been made for a reason, and by using the Note Edge as a benchmark we can clearly see what has been improved upon this time round.
