Samsung Galaxy S6 Active Review
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is the rugged version of the standard Galaxy S6, and like active versions before it, it offers a more stylized approach for those that may be more likely to get in situations where their phone could hit the ground or be scraped around by nature.
This time round, the ‘active’ in Galaxy S6 Active is even more prominent, and this feels like the sturdiest Active Samsung phone yet.
Build Quality
The Galaxy S6 Active has enough drop and water protection to keep it safe from most tumbles and can easily be submerged in water or be used in the rain. The device is shock resistant, dust proof, and water resistant up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.
The S6 Active also looks incredibly rugged and those that are looking for a nice, stylized rugged handset may even appreciate the device’s appearance over the standard Galaxy S6.
Whilst there are even more rugged devices on the market, you are missing out on the high end Samsung experience that the flagship Galaxy range offers, and the protection that the S6 Active offers is more than enough for most smartphone users.
Display
In the past, the Active variant has had some drawbacks in areas, but this year round the S6 Active seems to tick every box. The display on the S6 Active is absolutely stunning, just like it’s standard vanilla S6 brother. In fact, the display on the Active is the exact same same 5.1-inch 1440 x 2560 Super AMOLED panel that’s on the standard S6.
On top of the insane pixel density, the S6 Active also has great color temperatures, and great low brightness and high brightness levels.
Software
Samsung has had more than enough time to perfect their TouchWiz UX. No longer does it feel bloated and confusing. Whilst there are plenty of useful Samsung features, they have been neatly tucked into the corners so that the main experience is as user friendly and as easy to use as possible.
A brand new ‘Activity Zone’ has also been added to the Active variant. The Activity zone simply pairs together a number of apps that are available on the S6 or in the app store, including weather, temperature, compass, stopwatch, barometer and flashlight. You can unlock your Samsung galaxy S6 active anytime just visit here!
Whilst these features aren’t intuitive in any way, it’s nice to have them all in one spot.
Hardware
You may think that the S6 Active might be a slight downgrade to the standard S6 in the hardware department, but the Active is just as good, and in some areas slightly better. The Galaxy S6 Active includes the Exynos 7420 octa core processor, 3GB of RAM and the Mali-T760 GPU.
Unfortunately there is no micro SD card slot so you’ll have to deal with the 32GB internal storage sparingly.
Conclusion
There’s no doubt that the S6 Active is just as good as the standard S6 in every single way. The only change is that the Active is more suited for the outdoors type that may be more prone to dropping their smartphone or getting it wet.
If you have the money to spare and you’re looking for a high end Samsung smartphone, the S6 Active is an absolutely amazing choice.
