Galaxy Note 5 vs Galaxy S6 Edge Plus

By admin | Published September 12th, 2015

It’s time to put the two phablet titans from Samsung up to the test. Which one will come out on top? It will be a gruelling battle, but hopefully by the end of this article you’ll have a better idea over which one to pick.

Instead of going into full detail about each device, we’ll be focusing on the differences between the two to give you a quick up to date analysis and comparison.

Build Quality

First things first - Samsung has put a lot of effort into all of their devices this year to send off a big message. They are capable of doing premium and their new designs really show that to the world. If you need to unlock your Samsung Galaxy Note 5 just visit here!

The S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5 both have very premium designs that are built from sturdy metal and slick glass.

Both the Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are large devices so the most important aspect to look at besides their appearance and durability is their comfort level.

How comfortable is it to hold each device?

This may be a surprise to some, but the Note 5 actually felt a lot more suited for our hands, whilst the curved display on the Edge Plus made things a little less comfortable.

In the long term, you’ll definitely find the Note 5 being a nicer fit for you that is less irritable on the hands.

The Note 5 wins in the comfort department, but you can’t dismiss the slick look of the Edge Plus.

Display

In terms of raw specifications, the Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus have very similar displays. Take a closer look and they are completely separate from one another. Both devices have 5.7 inch 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED displays so they are both very good quality.

They also have some of the brightest, most colorful displays on the market today. You can visit here the instructions to unlock Galaxy S6 edge plus!

However, the Note 5 is missing one key feature that the S6 Edge Plus has. The latter has the dual curve display feature which extends the display down onto two sides of the device.

This can be used for a few tasks, including receiving and viewing useful notification information at a glance, unlocking the device and answering calls.

I personally think the S6 Edge Plus looks super slick with it’s dual curve display but beyond that it’s functionality wouldn’t really lend itself as that useful to me. However, it all comes down to preference, but i’d choose comfort and simplicity over style and additional hardware features. You may think differently.

Software

The software side of things is very similar for both sides of the fence. Both the Note 5 and the S6 Edge Plus are running the latest version of TouchWiz and come with Android 5.1.1 out of the box. For the most part, the TouchWiz experience is excellent, and you can check our other Samsung reviews for more details on this.

When it comes to the Note 5 though, a few more features have been bundled in. All of the extra features on the Note 5 are packed in with the S Pen functionality.

If you’re the kind of person who likes to get creative on their smartphone or likes the functionality behind a stylus then the Note 5 would be the best choice here, otherwise the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus would prove to be just as useful in the software department.

Hardware

The internal hardware in the S6 Edge Plus and the Note 5 are very similar, but benchmarks seem to show the Edge Plus as performing just a little bit better. You won’t notice these performance differences in normal day to day usage though.

Here’s a rundown of the hardware found in both devices.

●    5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED display (518 ppi)
●    Android 5.1.1
●    32GB/64GB of internal storage
●    4GB RAM
●    Exynos 7420 processor (2 x quad core)
●    16-megapixel camera
●    5-megapixel front-facing camera
●    Fingerprint sensor
●    3000mAh battery

Conclusion

So there we have it. Both the Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus are great large screen devices. The one that is best for you will depend on your own personal preferences. This review will certainly help you to figure out which path you’d rather choose.
