Samsung Galaxy E7 Review

By admin | Published May 24th, 2015

Despite the Samsung Galaxy E7 being a budget device, it still looks and feels as premium as many of the other handsets released by Samsung in recent years. The hardware isn’t as high end as you might hope, but the Galaxy E7 still packs quite a punch.

Build quality

Unfortunately the E7 does not come with the same metal grade materials used on the A7, but with that in mind, it does still look quite like an A7.

This time round, the corners have been made a little bit more rounded and this makes it feel more in line with some of the older smartphones from the Galaxy S lineup.

The smartphone has been built almost entirely out of plastic but it still feels comfortable in the hands. Another important design aspect of this phone is the dual SIM functionality. It’s rare that you find a high end smartphone with more than one SIM card slot, but there is enough room to fit two into the E7.

Display

The display on the E7 is surprisingly large. At 5.5 inches it makes it’s way into phablet territory, and it looks quite a treat too. Whilst the display is not full HD, it is a 720p panel and as you’d expect from a Samsung device, it is a Super AMOLED as well, which means better colors and better brightness than most competing display panels used for smartphones.

Interface

The Galaxy E7 is of course running Samsung’s iconic TouchWiz overlay, but the OS itself feels a little outdated. Unfortunately the E7 only runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box, and there’s no word of a Lollipop upgrade any time soon.

Performance

With 2GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 410 SoC, the Galaxy E7 certainly has enough punch to deal with most tasks without much trouble.

It’s a shame there isn’t the Snapdragon 615 in the E7 like there is in the A7 but Android now runs spectacularly on both setups regardless.
Summary

The Samsung Galaxy E7 is a smartphone that looks and feels more like the ‘old’ Samsung we have come to love.

Despite it feeling less than premium, it’s hardware is more than enough to handle most tasks, and more importantly the price tag will not be premium.
