It seems that Samsung is also starting to release downgraded versions of its smartphones in order to reach a public that wants cheaper gadgets. This custom started this year, with the release of the Note 3 Neo, a more affordable option of the original Note 3.

Design

Its dimensions are still quite big, with dimensions of 5.84 x 3.05 x 0.34 inches and an overall design which is very similar to the one of the Note 3. The casing looks good, having a grey rim and a removable cover that looks like leather.

There is a microSD slot for extra storage and of course, the S Pen Stylus place in the lower right corner as we are accustomed, reminding us that the phone is a Note also.
In what concerns the handling, this gadget is still quite a large phone and heavy of 162 grams, so many of the actions need both hands to be completed. However, the Note 3 Neo is more pocket-friendly than its predecessor and a bit easier to operate than a classical Note.

Display

With a 5.5” display and 720 x 1280 pixels of resolution, the Note 3 Neo doesn’t have a top 1080p display but it is clear enough and good enough to offer a pleasant and fun visual experience.

We have to take into consideration that a 5.5 inch display is bigger than many of the flagships on the market and that the Super AMOLED technology of Samsung is present on this device too, so if you are a media passionate the Note 3 Neo will surely satisfy you.

If you want to take this phone with you outdoors you will have a little bit of trouble, as its visibility is not so good in bright sunshine, so you need to find a way to adapt.

Interface

The TouchWiz interface now comes with all Samsung phones, so it will be the same as on the original Note 3. Everything was kept the same in this aspect of functionality, and all the Note 3 fans will surely be glad to know this.

Intelligent features such as Smart Stay, which allows you to keep your screen on while you are looking at it and also the multi-window mode which can show you two apps on a split screen are very cool and practical options of the Note 3 Neo.

Processor and Memory

The galaxy Note 3 Neo displays a new Exynos hexacore CPU, with two Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A9 cores, the first running at max 1.7 GHz and the latter at 1.3 GHz, a pretty powerful construction which makes the smartphone run really efficiently.

If we compare it with the Snapdragon 800 however, the Exynos is actually clocked lower and also the same if we compare it with the 1.9 GHz Exynos 5 Octa version of the Note 3.

The RAM memory has 2 GB of space, so you needn’t worry about running more apps at the same time. The internal memory is of 16 GB and the possibility of adding a microSD for storage expansion.

Camera

This Neo compact Samsung has a pretty good camera to offer, with 8 MP, LED flash and a 1.9 front facing shooter. The software is quite rich, offering various shooting modes and color effects grouped in an engaging flip-chart interface.

You can take clear and vivid colors with this Samsung compact phone, although you should not expect extraordinary images from it, such as the ones offered by flagship gadgets.

The video possibilities are of 1080p, a reasonable quality and clarity, but nothing out of the ordinary whatsoever.

With a 3100 mAh battery and 18 hours of talk time, the Samsung Note 3 Neo concludes its list of remarkable characteristics in a powerful manner, with a battery resistance that is over the top for its category.

All-in-all, the features of the compact Note 3 are very practical and of high standards, very close to the ones of the original Note 3.
