Samsung Galaxy S6 vs LG G3

By admin | Published May 26th, 2015

The LG G3 is definitely one of the most impressive smartphones by LG to date, but Samsung has managed to release a device this year that might just be their own most impressive handset.

Which one comes out on top? Even though some of the LG G3’s features are outdated, we can still give the two a pretty fair comparison.

Build Quality

LG has definitely taken quite a few design cues from Samsung’s books over the years, but Samsung threw a curveball with the Galaxy S6 that LG could have never expected.

The end result is a beautifully crafted device that finally feels like a premium piece of tech.

The standard Galaxy S6 still has nice curved edges and a metal and glass unibody design. Certain design features of the Galaxy S6 still feel like Samsung though, so it is both familiar and impressively premium.

The LG G3 on the other hand is a device that might lack some of the premium quality the S6 has achieved, but it’s still a pretty nice handset.

Perhaps the most unique feature of the LG G3 is the fact that some of it’s hardware buttons are placed on the back of the device. This is a useful feature considering the display is so large.

Display

Surprisingly, the LG G3 still holds up quite well against the display on the Samsung Galaxy S6. Both devices have a 1440 x 2560 resolution panel, although the LG’s is an IPS LCD display whilst the S6 uses a SUPER AMOLED display.

Because the display on the LG is larger at 5.5 inches, the pixel density is 538ppi, whilst the S6 has a 5.1 inch display with a pixel density of 577ppi.

In real term use, there’s still more than enough pixels on both displays. The colors feel a little more perfect on the Galaxy S6 though, but it’s not by a long shot.

If you’re opting for a larger display, the LG is definitely the best bet.

The S6 on the other hand is very slightly higher quality, but you not even be able to notice the difference.

User Interface

This year round Samsung has revised the TouchWiz UX and it is a now a much more majestic beast. Even though TouchWiz still has a huge number of features, they have been neatly tucked away to make the main user interface feel fluid and easy to use.

If you ever had any complaints with previous iterations of the TouchWiz software, it’s likely that this time round Samsung has fixed it. They really have taken a lot of care to get as much right as they possibly can.

The LG’s interface on the other hand is just as simplistic, colorful and easy to use. Even though the LG interface does not come with nearly as many features as the Galaxy S6 does, it still has a few unique features to make it stand out.

One of the most useful features on the LG G3 is Knock Code which lets you tap certain areas of the screen from standby to quickly unlock it without pressing the power button. To Unlock LG G3 just click here!

Performance

The Galaxy S6 comes with an Exynos 7420 which is an absolute powerhouse. It is by far the best SoC in terms of raw performance at this point in time. The LG G3 on the other hand uses a Snapdragon 801 SoC, and whilst this is a year old, it can still pack a punch.

In real world performance, both the Snapdragon 801 and the Exynos 7420 are capable of doing pretty much anything the Android OS can throw at them.

Unfortunately some LG G3 models only come with 2GB of RAM instead of 3GB, and the large HD display does mean that it seems to have a bit of trouble pushing so many pixels every now and then.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a 16 megapixel camera with a f/1.9 aperture lens. The LG G3 comes with a 13 megapixel camera with an F/2.4 aperture lens.

On paper and in terms of real world performance, the Galaxy S6 definitely returns better results, but the LG G3’s camera is still a very solid smartphone camera.

There doesn’t seem to be as much detail on pictures from the LG G3, but both cameras can deal with low lighting and indoor shots quite easily. If you need to unlock your Samsung Galaxy S6 just visit here!

Summary

Unless you’re an LG fan, the Samsung Galaxy S6 might just be the best choice for you. There are however a few areas where the LG G3 makes for a better device.

For example, the G3 comes with a larger display, and it also has a few useful software features like Knock Code which could help speed up your everyday smartphone activity.
