Sony Xperia E4 Review

By admin | Published May 5th, 2015

The Sony Xperia E4 is the latest smartphone in Sony’s entry level lineup. There’s no doubt that this device won’t be competing against the top flagship smartphones of 2015, but there is enough here to give this device a medal or two. If you are low on money, the E4 may be your best choice. We’ve taken a look at what makes the Xperia E4 so special at it’s price point below.

Build Quality

Let’s be honest, we really cannot expect much from the build quality of the Xperia E4. After all, the device is meant to be available to those on a budget, and that means as many corners that can be cut have been cut. The device feels clunky, plasticky and it certainly isn’t very thin. The device is also quite heavy and whilst it does feel Sony-esque, there isn’t really much to be impressed about here.

With that being said, Sony has done all they can whilst keeping themselves on a low budget. And to unlock your Xperia E4 just visit here!

Display

The display on the Xperia E4 is certainly not special, but it’s exactly what you’d expect for the price point in 2015. The E4 comes with a 540 x 960 resolution 5 inch display. This means the device has a pixel density of 220ppi.

The colors are displayed quite clearly, but the materials used to coat the display end up giving it a blurred, un-clear appearance. It is easy to use the E4’s display, but you’ll notice the difference if you were to jump from a flagship device from 2015, 2014 or even 2013.

Performance

Whilst the E4 may only come with a quad core Cortex A7 processor clocked at 1.3GHz, 1GB of RAM and a Mali-400MP2 GPU, the device manages to deal with most tasks in a real world environment.

Is the E4 going to feel constantly slick and smooth and are you going to be able to run high quality apps and games from it? No, but general phone and internet browsing will be no issue on the Xperia E4.

Software and Interface

Luckily the Xperia E4 comes preinstalled with Android 4.4.4 KitKat. This means that the software experience is pretty much the same as any other Xperia device. Whilst the high end Z4 may not share many of it’s features with the E4, the design footprint is recognizable and most of the well known Xperia functionality is available.
Camera

With just a 5 megapixel shooter with no LED flash, the performance of the Xperia E4’s camera is a bit of a let down. Even if the camera app isn’t that bad on the E4, everything you produce with the Xperia E4’s camera, from 1080p video to well lit photos, it’s always going to look pretty mediocre.

With a few hits to some areas such as the camera and build quality, the E4 isn’t a perfect device but for the price it gives you a small entry fee into the world of Xperia. There is a lot to like about the device and it easily rivals others entry level smartphones of 2015.
